    Market day in France

Market day in France is a pleasant social occasion with stalls offering an amazing variety of goods.

Some markets are covered, while many are outdoors, some are seasonal, whilst others are year round. Some specialise in a certain type of goods, for example fresh food, where others have a wide variety of stalls, some are tiny (The smallest we ever saw was two stalls) whilst others sprawl over many streets.

    How to use this website

The menu bar at the top will offer a series of search options, the most useful probably is "by department" - where the search result will give you a list of towns and what day the market is on in each

Beware: This website does not pretend to be the final source of information for when a market happens and the locations were mostly created by an automated process based on the Town name. This means any location will get you to the approximate area rather than necessarily a specific point in the Town. Where possible the locations are accurate but this is the exception rather than the rule.

    About this Website

This website emerged from our passion for touring in rural France. As keen Motorhomers we move about a lot and developed a taste for the Markets of France, so knowing what was on around us was useful.

We could not find a resource for the whole of France so, after collecting leaflets from various Office de Tourismes we started creating this site.

We are also working on a project to create a series of Satnav Points of Interest (POI) which you will be able to upload into your satnav giving you an on screen version of this list as you drive

This website is a work in progress, if you have any feedback, markets we've missed or got the details wrong (they do slowly change year on year), or simply find something that doesn't work right, please email markets@hotneedle.net
